JVC Unveils Hard-Drive-based and miniDV Tape Camcorders

JVC updated its camera line with a slew of new camcorders, which include both standard definition and high definition models. The company will also introduce new SD miniDV tape camcorders, which will cater to the low-end of the market. In the high def arena, JVC will debut the Everio GZ-HD7, JVC's first high-definition, three-CCD, hard-drive based camcorder. This Everio will feature full HD 1920 x 1080i video quality, store footage on a built-in 60 Gbyte hard drive (offering up to five hours of 1920 x 1080i recording and playback, according to JVC), add a 10x optical zoom lens, and include optical image stabilization. Targeted at the high-end, early adopter, the new Everio GZ-HD7 camera will include a manual focus ring, include HDMI, USB 2.0 and Firewire connections, come bundled with HD editing software and will list for just under $1800....

WXYZ-TV Purchases JVC GY-HD250U Pro HD Cameras For Station's ENG ...

Wayne, NJ - JVC Professional recently announced that WXYZ-TV, the ABC affiliate in Detroit, MI, has purchased five GY-HD250U Pro HD cameras for the station's HD electronic newsgathering (ENG).The station first used the GY-HD250 cameras as part of its HD coverage of the November elections. The JVC cameras were used at the stations "command center," an additional studio to help cover the election, switching between the station's main studio and the command center throughout the election coverage. WXYZ-TV upgraded their local news coverage to HD on October 4th, making them the first station in Michigan to broadcast local news in HD. "We're extremely pleased about the quality of HD footage we captured on election night using the GY-HD250U," said Ray Thurber, Director of Engineering, WXYZ-TV....

'Adrenaline' Shot With JVC GY-HD100U

Independent Producer Robert Lynn recently used the JVC GY-HD100U to film a new action/suspense movie, "Adrenaline," in one take. Lynn said he chose the GY-HD100U because he and his crew wanted to shoot in 24p, and they needed a camera that was compact enough to be maneuvered quickly and easily to follow the main actor in an out of the car throughout the entire 90-minute shoot. The film follows the main character as an unseen antagonist takes control of his SUV's satellite assistance service. After he learns the same person controlling his car has kidnapped his daughter, he is forced to commit a series of dangerous tasks. "No other camera was small enough to allow our crew to shoot through the window of a car," said Lynn. "We were able to capture such close-ups and quickly and easily follow the lead actor in and out of the SUV....

A SHATTERED Townsville mother has lost four years of treasured memories to a heartless thief. Vicki Keioskie is offering a cash reward for the return of nine video tapes that were stolen from her Kelso home. Mrs Keioskie is appealing with the robber who stole a video camera, digital camera and a portable DVD player from her house to have a heart. "I don't want to get anyone in trouble – I just want the videos back," Mrs Keioskie said. "Please, we just can't replace those memories. I don't care about the cameras at all. Everything the kids have done in the last four years is lost." Mrs Keioskie bought the JVC video camera when her daughter Georgia was born four years ago. Every tape she had ever made of her children was stored in a carry bag with the DVD player....
